Brazil cruise past Haiti as Cunha brace secures World Cup win

Brazil produced another polished display to defeat Haiti 3-0 and strengthen their grip on Group C at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Matheus Cunha struck twice before Vinícius Júnior added a third in first-half stoppage time as the five-time world champions wrapped up victory before the interval at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

While Haiti improved after the break, Brazil comfortably protected their clean sheet to move closer to the knockout stages.

Brazil dominate first half

The Seleção controlled possession from the opening whistle and finally broke through in the 24th minute. A flowing team move ended with Matheus Cunha calmly finishing to hand Brazil a deserved lead after sustained pressure.

Twelve minutes later, the striker doubled his tally, latching onto a perfectly weighted pass from Vinícius Júnior before finishing confidently to make it 2-0.

Brazil completed a devastating first-half display deep into stoppage time when Lucas Paquetá created space for Vinícius Júnior, who slotted home to give the South Americans a commanding three-goal advantage before halftime.

Haiti improve after the break

Haiti emerged with renewed energy following the interval and pushed Brazil far more aggressively.

Substitutes Wilson Isidor and Dominique Simon helped stretch Brazil's defence, while Danley Jean Jacques drove the midfield forward as Haiti enjoyed their best spell of the match.

The Caribbean side created several opportunities, but goalkeeper Alisson remained composed, producing important saves to preserve Brazil's clean sheet. Despite Haiti's improvement, Brazil's experienced defence, marshalled by Marquinhos and Gabriel Magalhães, dealt comfortably with the pressure.

Brazil manage the game professionally

With the result effectively secured, Brazil focused on controlling possession and limiting unnecessary risks. Gabriel Martinelli and Endrick were introduced to add fresh legs in attack, while Casemiro and Bruno Guimarães continued to dictate the tempo in midfield.

Brazil finished with 57 percent possession, completed more than 460 accurate passes, and converted all three of their clear-cut chances in another clinical World Cup performance.

Key Performer

Matheus Cunha (Brazil)

The striker delivered one of his finest international performances, scoring twice with composed finishes and constantly troubling Haiti's defence with intelligent movement throughout the first half.

Key Moment

Vinícius Júnior's goal before halftime

After Cunha's brace had put Brazil in control, Vinícius' stoppage-time finish effectively ended the contest, allowing Brazil to comfortably manage the second half and secure all three points.
