FIFA World Cup 2026 Fixtures for Friday, June 12

The FIFA World Cup 2026 continues on Friday, June 12, with two of the tournament's co-hosts stepping into the spotlight.
After Mexico opened the competition with a convincing 2-0 victory over South Africa at Estadio Azteca, attention now shifts north to Toronto and west to Los Angeles, where Canada and the United States will begin their World Cup journeys.
Both nations enter the tournament carrying high expectations, especially with home support behind them. While Canada are seeking their first-ever World Cup victory, the United States will look to justify their status as one of the strongest teams in the CONCACAF region.
Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina
Group B
Kickoff: 3:00 PM ET
Venue: BMO Field, Toronto, Canada
Canada will become the second host nation to begin its campaign when Jesse Marsch's side takes on Bosnia and Herzegovina in front of a packed home crowd.
The Canadians enter the tournament determined to rewrite history. Despite qualifying for three World Cups, Canada have yet to win a match on football's biggest stage. Their record currently stands at six matches played and six defeats across the 1986 and 2022 tournaments.
With talented stars throughout the squad and the backing of a passionate home crowd, many believe this could be the strongest Canadian team ever assembled.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, however, arrive with their own ambitions. Led by veteran striker Edin Džeko, the Balkan nation secured qualification after a dramatic playoff run and will be eager to make a statement in their tournament opener.
A victory would provide a huge boost for either side in a competitive Group B that also includes Switzerland and Qatar.
United States vs Paraguay
Group D
Kickoff: 9:00 PM ET
Venue: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, United States
The spotlight will then move to California, where the United States begin their World Cup campaign against a dangerous Paraguay side.
Ranked 16th in the FIFA rankings, the USMNT enter the tournament as favourites, but Paraguay's recent performances suggest they should not be underestimated.
La Albirroja battled through South American qualifying, one of the toughest qualification routes in international football. They finished level on points with several continental giants and claimed notable victories over both Brazil and Argentina during the campaign.
The two nations met in a friendly in November 2025, with the United States securing a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Gio Reyna and Folarin Balogun.
With the home crowd behind them and expectations rising, the Americans know three points would provide the ideal platform for a deep tournament run.
