Manchester United Draw 1-1 With PSG as Mbeumo Impresses

Manchester United continued their pre-season preparations with a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on Saturday, with Bryan Mbeumo once again finding the net.

Michael Carrick's side fell behind inside two minutes when Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye opened the scoring. United responded through Mbeumo, who levelled in the 32nd minute after good work from Amad Diallo.

The result gives Manchester United another encouraging performance against elite European opposition as preparations continue ahead of the new campaign.

PSG Strike Early Through Ibrahim Mbaye

Manchester United were forced to respond almost immediately after PSG took the lead in the second minute.

Ibrahim Mbaye finished after being played through by Dro Fernández, giving the French champions an early advantage at Nya Ullevi.

United goalkeeper Tom Heaton was unable to prevent the opener and later left the field shortly after half-time after appearing to suffer a hamstring problem.

Despite the early setback, United gradually settled into the contest and began creating more opportunities.

Bryan Mbeumo Continues Impressive Pre-Season

Mbeumo was Manchester United's standout attacking player and once again demonstrated why his start to pre-season has attracted significant attention.

The forward equalised in the 32nd minute after receiving the ball from Amad Diallo before producing a composed finish.

It was another important contribution from Mbeumo after he scored twice in United's previous pre-season victory over Atletico Madrid in Stockholm.

He also came close on several other occasions against PSG, including a looping header that went over the crossbar and a curling free-kick that narrowly missed the target.

His performance earned him a rating of nine from BBC Sport's Simon Stone, making him Manchester United's highest-rated player on the night.

Amad Diallo Provides Another Positive Display

Amad Diallo played an important role in United's equaliser and was one of the team's most effective attacking players.

The Ivorian winger showed good awareness to choose the pass to Mbeumo rather than attempting to finish the move himself.

Diallo also produced an excellent challenge to win possession high up the pitch, helping United maintain pressure on PSG.

His performance further strengthens the competition for attacking positions ahead of the new season.

Youri Tielemans Makes Manchester United Debut

One of the major talking points from the second half was the introduction of Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian midfielder came on in the 64th minute alongside Bruno Fernandes and immediately showed some of the qualities United will hope he can bring to the team.

Tielemans was praised for his tidy passing and willingness to take responsibility in possession. He also appeared to develop a promising understanding with Fernandes during his first appearance for the club.

While the midfielder did not produce a spectacular moment, his controlled performance provided an encouraging first impression.

Bruno Fernandes Returns After World Cup

Bruno Fernandes also made his first appearance since the World Cup after coming on in the second half.

The Manchester United captain showed glimpses of his usual competitive character, including a late effort that went narrowly wide.

His return gives Carrick another important attacking and creative option as United move closer to the start of the competitive season.

Fernandes' presence alongside Tielemans will also be closely watched as the midfielder settles into his new surroundings.

Harry Maguire Impresses in Defence

Harry Maguire was another of United's strongest performers.

The experienced defender received an eight rating from BBC Sport after producing a confident display at the heart of the defence.

Maguire was particularly noticeable when stepping forward with the ball and even attempted a shot during the match.

Leny Yoro also continued his positive pre-season with another promising appearance after coming on at half-time.

The young defender produced several good tackles and an acrobatic clearance as United dealt with PSG's attacking threat.

Manchester United's Pre-Season Progress

The draw against PSG represents another useful test for Carrick's Manchester United side.

United have now faced strong European opposition during their preparations and have shown they can compete while integrating returning players and new additions.

Mbeumo's continued goalscoring form is particularly encouraging, while the return of Fernandes and the debut of Tielemans provide further reasons for optimism.

There are still areas for United to improve, particularly in terms of creating more clear-cut opportunities and converting promising attacking situations.

However, the performance against the European champions offered several positive signs.

What Comes Next for Manchester United?

With the new season approaching, Carrick will now focus on using the remaining pre-season fixtures to establish his preferred starting XI and tactical approach.

Mbeumo's form will be one of the biggest positives, while Tielemans will be expected to become increasingly influential following his debut.

The return of Fernandes also provides United with additional leadership and creativity.

For now, the 1-1 draw against PSG gives Manchester United another valuable test and another indication that the squad is progressing ahead of the competitive campaign.
