France to appoint Zinedine Zidane as New Manager till 2030

Zinedine Zidane is reportedly set to become the next head coach of the France national team after agreeing to a contract that will keep him in charge until June 2030.

The reported appointment would see one of France's greatest football figures return to the international stage, this time from the technical area, as Les Bleus prepare for a new era following Didier Deschamps' long tenure.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the agreement has been completed, with an official unveiling expected in the coming days. However, at the time of publication, the French Football Federation (FFF) has not officially confirmed the appointment.

Zidane to lead France through major tournaments

If confirmed, Zidane will oversee France during the next international cycle, including UEFA Nations League 2027, UEFA Euro 2028 and FIFA World Cup 2030. The role has long been viewed as Zidane's preferred destination after several years away from coaching.

Deschamps' era comes to an end

The reported appointment follows the conclusion of Didier Deschamps' remarkable spell as France manager. Deschamps took charge in 2012 and guided Les Bleus through one of the most successful periods in their history, winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup and reaching two additional World Cup finals.

His departure opens the door for another World Cup-winning French legend to lead the national team.

Zidane returns after five years away

Zidane has not coached since leaving Real Madrid in 2021 after his second spell at the Santiago Bernabéu. His managerial résumé remains one of the most impressive in modern football. During his time with Real Madrid, Zidane won 3 consecutive UEFA Champions League titles, 2 La Liga championships, 2 Spanish Super Cups, 2 UEFA Super Cups, and 2 FIFA Club World Cups.

His achievement of winning three straight Champions League trophies between 2016 and 2018 remains unmatched in the modern era.

A long-awaited appointment

For several years, Zidane has repeatedly been linked with the France job whenever questions arose over Deschamps' future. The 1998 World Cup winner has publicly acknowledged his desire to coach the national team, making this move one of the most anticipated managerial appointments in international football.

His arrival would also reunite one of France's greatest-ever players with a new generation of international stars.

Official confirmation still pending

Although multiple reports indicate the agreement has been completed, supporters are still awaiting official confirmation from the French Football Federation.

Should the appointment be ratified, Zidane will inherit one of the strongest squads in international football and immediately become one of the leading storylines heading toward Euro 2028 and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
