Taylor Townsend & Siniakova win US Open Doubles, complete career Grand Slam

Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova completed their career Grand Slam as a partnership after overcoming Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery to win the 2026 US Open women's doubles title.

The top seeds recovered from a slow start at Arthur Ashe Stadium to defeat the American wild-card pairing 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 and claim their first US Open title together.

Krueger and Montgomery raced into a 3-0 lead and held on to take the opening set, putting Townsend and Siniakova under early pressure.

The response from the favourites was emphatic. Townsend and Siniakova raised the intensity at the net and began dictating the rallies, dropping just two games across the next two sets to complete a remarkable comeback.

“There were a lot of nerves,” Siniakova said. “We were really fighting for this one, so I’m just really proud. We did it.”

Townsend and Siniakova make history

The victory means Townsend and Siniakova have now won all four Grand Slam women's doubles titles together. Their partnership began its Grand Slam sweep at Wimbledon in 2024 before they added the Australian Open in 2025 and Roland Garros earlier in 2026.

The US Open was the only major missing from their collection. For Townsend, the victory provided a particularly satisfying response after her singles campaign ended against world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

The 30-year-old American had spoken positively about her current form and knew she still had an opportunity to leave New York with a major title. That opportunity became reality on Friday. Townsend dropped to her knees after the final point before celebrating with Siniakova.

“If flipping the script had a face,” Townsend said, “you’d see my face.”

Siniakova adds to remarkable Grand Slam collection

The title is Townsend's fourth Grand Slam women's doubles championship and Siniakova's 12th. Siniakova previously won seven majors alongside fellow Czech Barbora Krejcikova and another with Coco Gauff, further establishing her as one of the most accomplished doubles players of her generation.

Her partnership with Townsend has now produced a clean sweep of the four Grand Slam tournaments.

Krueger and Montgomery fall short after remarkable run

Despite the defeat, Krueger and Montgomery leave the tournament with plenty of reasons to be proud. The American wild cards entered the competition ranked well outside the top 500 in doubles, yet produced a stunning run to the final.

Their route included victories over the two halves of the defending champion pairing of Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski, with Krueger and Montgomery defeating them separately in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

The partnership also carried a special significance for the Americans. Five years after teaming up to win the US Open girls' doubles title, Krueger and Montgomery reunited and went all the way to the senior final.

“We put [the wild card] to really good use,” Krueger said.

They could not complete the fairytale against Townsend and Siniakova, but their unexpected run added another memorable chapter to the 2026 US Open doubles tournament.
