Texas Rangers complete sweep of Baltimore Orioles, reach first ALCS since 2011

Seager, García, and Eovaldi Propel Rangers into ALCS with 7-1 ALDS Sweep of Orioles.

In a dominant Game 3 performance, Corey Seager and Adolis García provided early fireworks with home runs, while Nathan Eovaldi delivered seven solid innings. Their collective efforts clinched the series, leading the Texas Rangers to a resounding 7-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in the AL Division Series.

After falling short on the last day of the regular season and landing a wild-card spot instead of the AL West championship, the Rangers have been unstoppable in the postseason, securing victories in all five of their games. This impressive streak propels them to the American League Championship Series, marking their first appearance since 2011.

Despite Baltimore's impressive regular season with an AL-best 101 wins and no series sweeps, the AL East champions suffered a series sweep at a most inopportune moment. Their playoff woes continue, having now lost eight consecutive postseason games over the past decade.

Corey Seager set the tone with a solo home run in the first inning, followed by Adolis García's three-run blast in the second, forcing Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer out of the game. Nathaniel Lowe added to the power display with a home run of his own.

This ALDS Game 3 was the first Rangers playoff game at Globe Life Field, which debuted in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting a significant portion of MLB's neutral postseason.

The Rangers, under the management of Bruce Bochy in his inaugural season, advanced to the ALCS. Bochy, renowned for leading the San Francisco Giants to three World Series titles between 2010 and 2014, is hoping to replicate his championship success with the Rangers.

Nathan Eovaldi, also in his first season with the Rangers, played a pivotal role in securing both of their series-clinching wins this postseason. His return in September after a seven-week absence due to a right forearm strain has been instrumental in the team's success.

In another ALDS matchup, the Houston Astros defeated the Minnesota Twins 9-1 in Game 3, seizing a 2-1 series lead. José Abreu's explosive performance, including a three-run homer and a two-run shot in the ninth, played a crucial role in Houston's victory. Yordan Alvarez and Alex Bregman contributed with home runs as well. Cristian Javier's exceptional pitching, striking out nine in five scoreless innings, solidified the win.

For the Twins, Sonny Gray surrendered two home runs in a game for the first time in his two seasons with the team. Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday at Target Field, and the prospect of a decisive Game 5 looms, set to take place in Houston on Friday.
