Sinner beats Zverev to reach Monte Carlo final, eyes No.1 Spot

Jannik Sinner delivered another statement performance to book his place in the final of the Monte Carlo Masters, brushing aside Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4. The world No.2 needed just over an hour to dismantle Zverev, continuing his remarkable dominance at Masters 1000 level this season.

Sinner’s run into the final makes him the first player since Novak Djokovic in 2015 to reach the finals of the first three Masters events of the year. He joins elite company, including Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, as one of the few players to achieve this milestone.

Sinner came out firing, breaking Zverev three times in a ruthless opening set that lasted just 34 minutes. His aggressive baseline play left the German with little room to settle, as he dictated rallies and controlled the tempo from the outset.

Zverev shows fight, but falls short

Alexander Zverev improved in the second set, finding more rhythm on serve and pushing Sinner in longer exchanges. But the Italian’s consistency and shot-making proved decisive, sealing victory in 1 hour and 22 minutes with another blistering forehand.

Dominance over Zverev continues

Sinner has now won eight straight matches against Zverev, underlining a one-sided rivalry in recent years. The German has not beaten him since their meeting at the US Open in 2023.

Final Awaits and No.1 on the line

Sinner will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Valentin Vacherot in the final. A showdown with Alcaraz would see the world’s top two players battle not just for the title, but also for the No.1 ranking.

The 24-year-old continues to build momentum, extending his winning streak at Masters tournaments and reinforcing his status as the most in-form player on tour. With titles already in Indian Wells and Miami Open this season, Sinner is now one win away from a third Masters crown in 2026.

Sinner looks sharp, confident, and in complete control of his game. Whoever he faces in the final will need something special to stop his march toward the Monte Carlo title, and possibly the world No.1 ranking.
