Serie A 2026-27: New Signings and Coaches Set for Big Starts

Serie A returns this weekend with a new season, new managers and a host of summer arrivals ready to make their mark.
The opening round features four matches on Saturday, with Inter Milan hosting Monza and Udinese facing Como at 18:30 CET before Parma meet Cagliari and Genoa take on Napoli at 20:45 CET.
With the transfer window still open, several squads remain unfinished. However, a number of new signings are already expected to go straight into their clubs' starting line-ups.
The influx of new players could make the opening weeks particularly intriguing, while the arrival of several new coaches adds another layer of uncertainty to the 2026-27 campaign.
New Signings Could Make Immediate Serie A Starts
Como are among the clubs preparing for a significant defensive overhaul.
Trevoh Chalobah, the former Chelsea defender, is expected to be one of three new players to become regular starters at the back. He is also one of six English players to have joined Serie A clubs during the summer.
Inter Milan have signed two players from that group in John Stones and Djed Spence, although Spence is currently the more certain starter.
The former Tottenham player is expected to step into the Inter line-up following Denzel Dumfries' departure from the club.
That gives Inter an immediate change to one of the positions that helped shape their previous campaign, with Spence now facing the task of establishing himself at San Siro.
Juventus Turn to Familiar Tottenham Faces
Juventus have also looked towards former Tottenham players as they strengthen their squad for the new campaign.
Guglielmo Vicario is set to provide competition in goal after joining on loan from Tottenham with an option to buy.
Randal Kolo Muani is another former Tottenham-linked arrival expected to feature in attack, giving Juventus another option in the final third.
The changes highlight how dramatically some Serie A squads have been reshaped during the summer, with several new arrivals potentially being asked to make an immediate impact rather than being eased into the team.
Milan Add Firepower and Defensive Options
AC Milan have also been active in strengthening several areas of the squad.
Mario Gila has arrived to reinforce the defence, while Diego Moreira provides another option on the left.
Up front, Gonçalo Ramos has joined as Milan look to add more attacking quality.
The club will be hoping their new additions can quickly adapt, particularly with the demands of a full Serie A campaign ahead.
With several clubs still completing their squads, Milan could yet make further changes before the transfer deadline.
Roma and Fiorentina Prepare for Major Changes
Roma are another club with new arrivals expected to play significant roles.
Nahuel Molina and Rodrigo Mora are both expected to feature regularly, giving the squad fresh options as the season gets underway.
Fiorentina have gone even further with their rebuild.
The club are expected to make changes to half of last season's starting line-up, with six new regular starters set to feature.
That level of turnover could make Fiorentina one of the more interesting teams to monitor during the opening weeks, as new players attempt to establish an understanding with their teammates.
The Transfer Window Could Still Change Serie A
Although the new Serie A season is about to begin, the squads taking the field on the opening weekend may not be the same ones clubs finish the campaign with.
The transfer window remains open, meaning coaches must continue preparing their teams while knowing further arrivals or departures could still alter their plans.
Clubs have until 1 September to complete their squads and add further signings.
That deadline could prove important for teams still looking to strengthen, particularly those whose new managers are still shaping their preferred starting XIs.
With new coaches, new arrivals and several clubs undergoing significant changes, the opening weeks of Serie A could reveal which summer rebuilds are already working — and which teams still need time.
