Shure Demise sets Paris Marathon record, Yemaneberhan Crippa wins men’s race

Shure Demise delivered a historic performance to win the Paris Marathon in a record time of 2:18:34. The Ethiopian shattered the previous course record by more than a minute, leading a dominant podium finish for her country. She crossed the line ahead of Misgane Alemayehu (2:19:08), while Magdalyne Masai finished third in 2:19:17.
Yemaneberhan Crippa times his move to Perfection
In the men’s race, Yemaneberhan Crippa produced a perfectly timed surge to claim victory in 2:05:19.
A leading pack of seven runners remained together at the 35km mark, setting up a dramatic finish. Crippa made his decisive move in the final three kilometers, breaking away from Bayelign Teshager (2:05:24) and Sila Kiptoo (2:05:29). “I am very, very happy. At the 34th kilometer, I felt it was my day,” Crippa said after the race.
Strong showing from French runners
Emmanuel Roudolff-Levisse impressed with a sixth-place finish, setting a personal best of 2:05:59 and boosting his hopes of qualifying for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
In the women’s race, Mekdes Woldu was the top French finisher in eighth place, clocking 2:26:25, just three minutes off her national record.
The race once again drew massive participation, with over 60,000 runners expected to cross the finish line along Avenue Foch, near the iconic Arc de Triomphe.
From elite performances to amateur milestones, the Paris Marathon delivered a day of standout achievements and memorable moments.
