Oklahoma City, who were leading the Western Conference, had a strong start and took a 12-point lead early in the first quarter. However, the Lakers fought back with solid defense and Russell's impressive performance, outscoring the Thunder 27-18 in the second quarter to take the lead for the rest of the game.

Lakers coach Darvin Ham praised his team's defensive effort, calling it the best defensive half he had seen all season. The Lakers limited Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to 20 points, while Chet Holmgren and Josh Giddey scored 15 and 13 points respectively.

The loss pushed Oklahoma City out of the top spot in the West, with the Minnesota Timberwolves taking over. The Lakers improved to 34-29, securing the ninth spot in the conference.

In another game, Damian Lillard scored an impressive 41 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 113-106 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, despite missing Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton due to injuries. The Clippers had a 15-point lead in the third quarter but couldn't hold on to secure the win.

Lillard and Bobby Portis ignited in the final quarter, leading the Bucks to outscore the Clippers 40-25 and secure the victory in front of an enthusiastic Milwaukee crowd.

Lillard recorded 41 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Portis contributed 28 points and 16 rebounds.

Milwaukee's record now stands at 41-21, positioning them in second place in the Eastern Conference, trailing behind Boston (48-12).

"We are displaying great teamwork on both offense and defense," Lillard commented.
