US Open 2026: Muchova and Mensik win Mixed Doubles

Karolina Muchova and Jakub Mensik have captured the 2026 US Open mixed doubles title after defeating fourth seeds Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli in a deciding-set tiebreak at Flushing Meadows.
The Czech pairing prevailed 6-3, 1-6, [10-6] in the final, producing a composed finish after Bencic and Cobolli fought back strongly to level the contest. The victory gives Muchova and Mensik a Grand Slam title together and adds another highlight to a memorable US Open for Czech tennis.
A final of contrasting sets
Muchova and Mensik made the stronger start, taking the opening set 6-3 as their combination at the net and Mensik's serve put pressure on the fourth seeds.
Bencic and Cobolli responded emphatically in the second set. They broke down the Czech duo's momentum to take it 6-1 and force the championship-deciding tiebreak. The deciding breaker remained competitive, but Muchova and Mensik held their nerve at the crucial moments to win 10-6 and secure the trophy.
For Muchova, the result was particularly unexpected after she and Mensik had needed a dramatic escape in their semi-final against Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev. The Czech pair saved two match points before eventually winning the semi-final 5-4 (6), 3-5, [11-9].
Muchova later credited her confidence in Mensik's serve for helping them negotiate the tight moments.
“100% confidence,” Muchova said of relying on her partner's serve in the deciding tiebreaks.
She also joked about Mensik's performance, while thanking the 20-year-old for helping carry the team through the tournament.
Mensik delivers on the biggest points
Mensik's serving proved to be one of the defining features of the Czech run. The young Czech has established himself as one of the sport's most promising players, and the mixed doubles title adds another significant achievement to his growing résumé.
Muchova, meanwhile, brought experience and composure around the net, creating an effective balance with Mensik's power. Their ability to recover from difficult moments ultimately proved decisive against Bencic and Cobolli.
Bencic and Cobolli fall just short
Bencic and Cobolli were competing in their first mixed doubles final as a partnership and had produced an impressive run to the championship match. The fourth seeds had dropped only one set before the final, including a 4-5, 4-1, [10-5] semi-final victory over Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils.
Cobolli paid tribute to Bencic after the defeat, praising the energy and positive atmosphere they created as a partnership. The Italian also jokingly asked Bencic not to partner anyone else before his career ends.
Despite the loss, reaching the final represents another notable milestone for Cobolli, who has enjoyed a breakthrough period on the ATP Tour.
Czech success continues in New York
Muchova and Mensik's triumph also extends a strong showing by Czech players in the revamped US Open mixed doubles competition.
Katerina Siniakova was part of one of the tournament's biggest opening-round upsets, partnering Britain's Henry Patten to eliminate top seeds Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic.
Muchova and Mensik subsequently carried the Czech challenge all the way to the trophy. The 2026 mixed doubles competition again featured a shortened format designed to bring more singles stars into the event while giving the discipline a standalone place on the US Open calendar.
