Max Verstappen reflects with pride and sadness as the Dutch GP exits the F1 calendar after 2026

Max Verstappen (27) expressed a blend of sadness and pride regarding the removal of the Dutch Grand Prix from the Formula 1 calendar after 2026.
The Red Bull four-time world champion has triumphed in nearly all of his home races at Zandvoort since the circuit's return in 2021, which has transformed into a vibrant celebration for his enthusiastic supporters.
"It is certainly disappointing that it will not continue. However, I am also very proud of what has been accomplished," Verstappen remarked to reporters at the season-concluding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"When I began my journey in Formula 1, I never envisioned that we would return to Zandvoort. The races we have experienced there and the events organized have earned my utmost respect. I take pride in having contributed to that as well.
"Moreover, witnessing the fans present has been, and continues to be, truly remarkable."
Formula 1 announced a one-year extension on Wednesday for 2026, during which the race will be conducted in a sprint format for the first time.
"I am eagerly anticipating the final two years," Verstappen stated.
"They claim they will conclude with a spectacular finale. I am also very excited to witness that."
