Jannik Sinner sweeps past Novak Djokovic to reach Wimbledon final

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner delivered one of the finest performances of Wimbledon 2026 to defeat Novak Djokovic in straight sets and secure his place in a second consecutive final at the All England Club.
The defending champion overwhelmed the seven-time Wimbledon winner 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in just two hours and 20 minutes, ending Djokovic's pursuit of a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles title.
Sinner will now face French Open champion Alexander Zverev in Sunday's championship match as he attempts to retain the Wimbledon crown.
Sinner produces Championship-level Tennis
From the opening games, Sinner dictated play with powerful serving, relentless baseline hitting and exceptional movement. The Italian struck 16 aces, fired 40 winners and committed only 15 unforced errors in one of his cleanest performances of the tournament.
Djokovic struggled to create opportunities throughout the match, earning only one break point, which Sinner erased with a perfectly placed ace midway through the third set.
The victory marked Sinner's 99th career Grand Slam match win and confirmed his status as the player to beat on the ATP Tour.
Djokovic's record bid falls short
Djokovic entered the semi-final hoping to move beyond Margaret Court and become the outright holder of the all-time Grand Slam singles titles record.
The Serbian legend also sought to equal Roger Federer's record of eight Wimbledon men's singles titles.
However, after surviving a marathon five-set quarter-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Djokovic appeared unable to match Sinner's relentless pace and intensity.
Despite the defeat, Centre Court gave the 39-year-old a warm ovation as he acknowledged the crowd following another memorable Wimbledon campaign.
Sinner sets up Zverev showdown
The victory sends Sinner into his seventh Grand Slam final and his second consecutive Wimbledon title match. Standing between him and another major trophy is Alexander Zverev, who advanced after ending British wild card Arthur Fery's remarkable tournament.
Sinner has dominated the recent rivalry, winning 10 of their previous 14 meetings and remaining unbeaten against the German since 2023. Nevertheless, Zverev arrives full of confidence after capturing his maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros earlier this season.
Defending Champion eyes Wimbledon history
Sinner is now one victory away from becoming just the 10th man in the Open Era to successfully defend the Wimbledon men's singles title.
The Italian has steadily improved throughout the tournament, dropping only one set before producing arguably his best display against one of the greatest players in tennis history.
With confidence high and momentum firmly on his side, Sinner enters Sunday's final as the favourite to lift another Wimbledon trophy.
