The Cavaliers then carried that momentum into overtime, producing a decisive 13-0 run stretching from the end of regulation into the extra period while holding Detroit scoreless for nearly five minutes.
Cade Cunningham’s heroics not enough for Detroit
Despite the defeat, Cade Cunningham delivered a sensational individual display for Detroit.
The All-Star guard scored 39 points and registered nine assists, repeatedly dragging the Pistons back into the contest with fearless shot-making and aggressive drives to the basket.
Cunningham cut Cleveland’s lead to just two points with 25 seconds remaining in overtime, briefly giving Detroit hope of forcing another dramatic finish.
However, Harden calmly responded at the free-throw line, converting crucial late points and securing possession after intentionally missing his second attempt to run down the clock.
Cavaliers closing in on Eastern Conference Finals
The series now shifts back to Cleveland for Game 6, where the fourth-seeded Cavaliers will have their first opportunity to eliminate Detroit and advance. A victory would send Cleveland into the Eastern Conference Finals against New York, marking a major milestone in the franchise’s resurgence.
