FIFA unveils Championship Rings ahead of 2026 World Cup Final

The winners of the FIFA World Cup 2026 will leave with more than football's most famous trophy. For the first time in the tournament's history, FIFA has introduced official championship rings that will be presented to the victorious team, adding a uniquely North American sporting tradition to the world's biggest football competition.
The initiative comes ahead of Sunday's World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at New York New Jersey Stadium, where history will be made regardless of the result.
A new tradition for football's biggest prize
While the FIFA World Cup Trophy remains the ultimate symbol of success in international football, championship rings will now become part of the celebration for the tournament winners.
The rings are designed as commemorative keepsakes recognising each player's contribution to lifting the World Cup, similar to championship traditions seen across major North American sports leagues.
According to FIFA, this marks the first time championship rings have been officially awarded at any FIFA competition.
Limited Collection of 2,026 Rings
The release will be highly exclusive. Only 2,026 individually numbered rings have been produced to commemorate the 2026 tournament.
The allocation includes:
- 30 custom rings reserved for the winning squad and coaching staff.
- 1,996 rings to be released globally as official licensed collector's items for supporters.
Each ring will include an individual serial number and certificate of authenticity.
Custom design reflects the Champions
One side of the ring prominently displays the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy. The reverse side will be personalised with the identity of the tournament winners, ensuring each championship ring becomes a permanent reminder of football's greatest achievement.
FIFA also confirmed that every winner's ring will be individually fitted before final delivery.
Temporary rings presented after the Final
Immediately following the World Cup final, the winning captain and head coach will receive ceremonial rings during the celebrations. The complete set of customised rings will then be manufactured to the correct size for each recipient before being officially presented at a later ceremony.
The personalised approach ensures every member of the victorious team receives a unique memento tailored specifically for them.
Championship rings have long been synonymous with major professional sports in the United States, particularly the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. By introducing the concept to the FIFA World Cup, organisers have embraced one of North America's most recognisable sporting traditions while maintaining the prestige of football's ultimate prize.
The initiative also reflects the unique identity of the 2026 tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Trophy remains the ultimate prize
Although the addition of championship rings represents a significant innovation, the FIFA World Cup Trophy remains the pinnacle of international football.
The rings are intended to complement, not replace, the traditional rewards of lifting the famous gold trophy and receiving winners' medals.
For either Spain or Argentina, victory on Sunday will now carry an additional piece of history, as the first national team ever to wear official FIFA World Cup championship rings.
